Privacy Policy

Your data stays
where it belongs.

We collect as little as possible. Most data never leaves your device.

Overview

Snuffy Rhino Productions, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") is a Georgia-based company that builds iOS apps and publishes books. This Privacy Policy explains what information our apps and website collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

The short version: we don't run accounts, we don't sell data, and we don't track you. The only time any content leaves your device is when you use a feature that sends it to a third-party AI service — and we tell you exactly when that happens below.

Our Apps

This policy covers the following applications distributed through the Apple App Store and this website:

  • Manuscan — iOS manuscript analysis app
  • Ragion — iOS RAG document Q&A app
  • Ingredient Getter — iOS recipe-to-shopping-list app
  • Writers Wellspring — web-based story analysis tool

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Your name, email address, or any account information
  • Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or location data
  • Browsing history, usage analytics, or crash diagnostics sent to us
  • Payment information (all purchases are handled entirely by Apple)

We have no servers that receive data from our apps. We have no user database.

What Each App Does With Your Data

Manuscan

Manuscan imports EPUB files stored on your device. When you run an analysis, the manuscript text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to perform structure extraction and continuity analysis. The text is processed and returned; Anthropic does not retain it beyond the request. All other data — your manuscripts, analysis reports, and export files — are stored locally on your device and never transmitted to us.

Ragion

Ragion stores all knowledge base documents locally on your device using on-device databases. When you ask a question, the behavior depends on which AI model you choose:

  • Claude (Anthropic): Relevant document passages and your question are sent to Anthropic's API. Anthropic processes the request and returns a response.
  • ChatGPT (OpenAI): Relevant document passages and your question are sent to OpenAI's API. OpenAI processes the request and returns a response.
  • Ollama (local): Everything stays on your device. No data leaves. No internet connection required for inference.

When using local Ollama models, Ragion is entirely private — your documents and questions never leave your device.

Ingredient Getter

When you photograph a recipe, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to extract ingredient information. The image is processed and the response is returned; it is not stored by Anthropic beyond the request. Your shopping lists, store layout preferences, and recipe history are stored locally on your device and never transmitted to us or any third party.

Writers Wellspring

Writers Wellspring is a web application that runs in your browser. When you submit a manuscript for analysis, the text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API. The analysis result is returned to your browser. We do not log, store, or retain your manuscript text on any server we operate.

Third-Party AI Services

Some features of our apps use the following third-party AI services. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data:

We encourage you to review these policies. When AI features are optional (as in Ragion's model selection), you may choose the fully local Ollama option to keep all processing on-device.

Apple Platform Privacy

Our iOS apps are distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store and follow Apple's privacy guidelines. All in-app purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. We receive only aggregated, anonymized sales data from Apple — never individual purchase records tied to your identity.

Our apps do not request access to microphone, location, contacts, camera roll, or any sensitive system permissions beyond what is required for a specific feature (e.g., Ingredient Getter requests camera access only to photograph recipes).

Data Storage and Security

Data created within our apps — documents, analyses, shopping lists, knowledge bases — is stored locally on your iOS device using Apple's standard storage frameworks. This data is protected by your device's built-in security (Face ID, Touch ID, device encryption) and backed up only through your personal iCloud account, which we have no access to.

We operate no databases, servers, or cloud infrastructure that holds your personal data.

Children's Privacy

Our apps are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The Adventures of Tumbleton T. book series is intended for tween readers but involves no digital data collection of any kind.

If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information through our website or apps, please contact us at dan.horn@me.com and we will take prompt action.

Your Rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete on request. All data created by our apps lives on your device — you can delete it at any time by deleting the app or clearing its data in iOS Settings.

If you have a question about data handled by Anthropic or OpenAI in connection with our apps, we encourage you to contact those companies directly using the links above.

Changes to This Policy

If we materially change this Privacy Policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of our apps after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
